Congenital Quadricuspid Aortic Valve, a Rare Cause of Aortic Insufficiency in Adults: Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Quadricuspid aortic valve (QAV) is rare congenital malformation of the aortic valve with estimated prevalence of 0.013% to 0.043% [1-4]. QAV is most commonly associated with aortic insuf iciency (AI), which is found in almost 75% of cases [5]. QAV can also be associated with other cardiac defects such as ventricular or atrial septal defects, patent ductus arteriosus, subaortic ibromuscular stenosis, malformation of the mitral valve, and coronary anomalies [3]. Up to 40% of all patients with QAV undergo aortic valve replacement surgery most commonly due to progressive AI in 88% of case [2,3,6]. Here we report a case from our institution of a woman with QAV with severe AI and anomalous origin of the right coronary artery.

Quadricuspid Aortic Valve Visualized by Three-Dimensional Transthoracic Echocardiography
Quadricuspid aortic valve is a rare congenital anomaly that may cause aortic regurgitation. A 77-year-old male patient was referred to our clinic with complaints of stable angina pectoris. We report a case of a quadricuspid aortic valve diagnosed by 3-dimentional transthoracic echocardiography.

An accessory coronary cusp in aortic valve is a rare congenital cardiovascular malformation with an estimated incidence of 0.003 to 0.043% of all congenital heart disease. It is also describe as a quadricuspid aortic valve (QAV). Several different anatomical variations of quadricuspid aortic valve have been described. Current technology enables noninvasive diagnosis in most cases. Here we repor...
متن کاملQuadricuspid aortic valve by using intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography
Quadricuspid aortic valve is a rare congenital malformation of the aortic valve. Its diagnosis is often missed even with the use of transthoracic echocardiogram. Many of these patients progress to aortic incompetence later in life, hence requiring surgical intervention. In the case described in this report, a 61-year-old woman is presented with the features of congestive heart failure. The preo...

Quadricuspid aortic valve is a rare congenital anomaly. It may present as an isolated anomaly but is occasionally associated with aortic regurgitation. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SVA) is also an infrequent congenital anomaly, typically associated with tricuspid aortic valves. There are only a few reported cases of SVA (ruptured) associated with quadricuspid aortic valves in the literature. We ...
